- Should always be done within the pain threshold
- If you have pain in the wrist the exercise should be discontinued
Flexion and Extension of the Wrist - Place forearm on a table with wrist hanging off the edge
- Palm down
- Fingers relaxed
- Bend hand as far as possible downward
- Then bend hand upward as far as possible
Radial Deviation/Ulnar Deviation (wrist moves side to side) - Place forearm on a table with wrist hanging off the edge
- Palm facing in, thumb to the ceiling, pinky to the floor
- Fingers straight
- Bend hand as far as possible downward
- Then bend hand upward as far as possible
Pronation/Supination (palm moves towards ceiling and then to the floor - Place forearm on a table with palm facing tabletop
- Turn wrist so back of hand is against the table
- Then turn wrist so back of hand is towards the ceiling
Rotations of the Wrist (Wrist circles) - Rotate wrist in circles one way
- Rotate wrist in circles the other way
Hand/Finger Strengthening - Make a fist
- Then straighten fingers
- Spread fingers out
Hand/Finger Strengthening - Squeeze a soft ball, Silly Putty or other appropriate object
Hand/Finger Strengthening - Using your thumb
- Touch each fingertip on same hand
- Exert as much pressure as possible
- Bend hand as far as possible downward
- Then bend hand upward as far as possible
