Let’s talk about the different types of symptoms that you may be experiencing so you can begin to get lower back pain relief. There are many types from simple and common symptoms to very complex. General Lower Back Pain Symptoms - Sharp pain in affected areas can be caused by a nerve or disc compression, etc.
- Muscle aches from overuse, sports, sprains and strains, etc.
- Pain with motion can be from overuse, sports, torn ligaments, tendons, etc.
- Radiating pain from nerve compression, etc.
Specific Lower Back Pain Symptoms - Numbness, tingling or loss of muscle action may be a sign of nerve compression or something more serious.
- Pain, numbness, tingling down the back of your leg may be a condition called sciatica. This is a condition that stems from the lumbar/lower back area.
- Muscle spasms, cramping and stiffness.
- Arthritis pain is usually accompanied by stiffness. It starts gradually and continues to get worse over time.
- A sudden pull and sharp pain in the back could signal a strain or sprain to a back muscle ligament.
- Spondylolisis is a gradual onset of symptoms with general lower back pain and stiffness on one or both sides. Bending backward is difficult and painful.
- Mechanical symptoms are brought on by muscle strains, anatomical abnormalities, poor posture and poor physical shape. With this condition you may experience general pain and stiffness in the lower back with restricted forward bending motion.
- A back contusion is when there is direct impact that causes bleeding in the muscle fibers . There is local pain, tenderness, discoloration and possible swelling.
Call your medical provider if you are unsure of what is causing your symptoms of if you are experiencing the following. - Back pain accompanied by fever.
- Experiencing numbness that increases with pressure and that does not go away with rest. Accompanied by nausea, fever, loss of appetite.
- Discomfort that worsens with deep breathing.
- Sharp pain on one side not caused by injury.
