Retrocalcaneal Bursitis. is also known as “Pump Bump” and occurs on the back of the heel. Meaning, this condition is often seen in women who wear high heeled shoes that are too small. Heel Spurs are often times associated with Plantar Fasciitis. They usually occur when posterior heel pain has been an issue for years.

Stress Fractures are another form of sharp heel pain in foot. They are a series of microfractures that develop in a bone from repetitive impact. They are more frequent with runners, ballet dancers and those who participate in aerobic exercise.

Posterior Heel Pain is pain behind the foot not on the bottom. The conditions range from Achilles tendonitis to bursitis.

Sesamoiditis is pain at the ball of the foot not on the bottom. It is inflammation or damage to the sesamoid bones that lie underneath the big toe. Long distance runners and baseball pitchers can be affected.
